HAVING A FRESH START – Personal Branding

It’s time to get serious.

Branding a business is one thing, but branding yourself – as an entrepreneur, expert, specialist, designer or what ever – is a totally different story.

I’ve been following online world for a while now, after switching from traditional marketing to digital, I understood that you really, really need to brand yourself, no matter what you do and what role you’re in.

By branding yourself – it makes it easier for you to stay focused and consistent. For others – they can recognise you, both on- and offline.

I have covered some branding basics for a fashion label on my previous posts, and now I want to turn things around. I need to start from myself – I need to brand… Me.

How can I brand myself?
How do I want to be seen by others?
Should I be just authentic self or spice myself up?
It is really me, or who I want to be?
Who am I?

It’s exhausting. I don’t even know where to begin.

Staring at my laptop with my hands covering half of my face and deeply breathing into my palms, I’m struggling to write my next paragraph that should tell you something about who I am, what I do, why I write and what you can expect of me.

So I’ll keep it simple.

My aim is to deliver Fashion Branding and Marketing insights, to help startups and fashion labels to turn themselves into strong brands.

Maria DicksonI am not an expert – but I am constantly learning, and I want to become one. It’s a never ending cycle, because things change, and you need to adapt. You need to move forward, and that’s what I do. I love to share marketing and branding tips and articles from various websites and blogs on my social media profiles. I love to chat and share what I know with others, and listen/read what others have to say.

Do I have a style?

In fashion? Sure. I love high heels and 50’s style – but as a busy mum, wife and a dog owner, I don’t have time to dress up nor wear make up, so my style varies from day to day.

In writing? I’m still trying to figure this one out. English is not my native language, but I’m aiming to express even trickiest and most strategic things in a way anyone can understand. Marketing and branding is not a rocket science – and marketers should stop writing like it is.

What can you expect?

I don’t want to make promises, but I do try to deliver fresh and up to date strategies, ideas, personal experiences and thoughts on fashion branding and marketing. It’s my passion and my drive.

I work with Headhunters.

I just personally think that sentence sounds awesome. I am a digital marketer for headhunting company, but I am constantly looking for new exciting projects out there.

I can tell you this, I will be involved with a radio station starting from June… 😉
